EMCO Wheaton assembled its global team of engineers and experts to develop the next generation of tank truck couplings. The J0453 is the result of these efforts – a revolutionary API coupling that is not only safer and more efficient but also easier to use, even in the most demanding terminal environments.
This product builds on the strengths of the J0452 and incorporates key design improvements to deliver unrivalled performance when handling different fuel grades. With a design based on feedback from key industry names, EMCO Wheaton has once again set the standard for loading and unloading in the petro-chemical sector.
The J0453 builds on the successes of earlier designs in EMCO Wheaton’s tank truck couplings range. Like the J0451 and J0452, this new coupling achieves a minimal pressure drop and high flow rate without compromising operator safety. It also uses EMCO Wheaton’s proven lever design and superior sealing technology to virtually eliminate spillages.
However, the J0453 features some key improvements to bring customers the very best performance available on the market. These include a new lightweight design that totals just 7.1kg (15.6 lbs) – almost 2kg (4.4lbs) less than the J0452 – an integrated pump to further reduce disconnect leaks, and a completely new latch design.
This coupling can handle a much higher working pressure up to 16 bar (232 psi), with a test pressure of 25 bar (362 psi). Prioritising efficiency and ease of operation, the J0453 also benefits from smoother coupling operation thanks to low engagement force, easier sealing and better components that can reduce maintenance downtime by up to 50%.
These changes have ultimately delivered the most technically advanced coupling built for the petro-chemical sector. Like other products in EMCO Wheaton’s range, the J0451 meets recognised international standards and industry codes of practice, including API RP1004.
The J0453 is one of the lightest couplings on the market at just 7.1kg (15.6lb) – this weight reduction has been achieved by using new low-weight components that still maintain durability. It has a maximum working pressure of 16 bar (232 psi) and connects to a 4” tank truck flange.
The coupling is shipped with X seals as standard, but customers can choose from a number of variants:
Suitable for a range of applications across rail and road, our API bottom loading adapters and couplers form the mission critical connection when a tanker is at the loading rack. The J0453 can handle a wide range of different fuel products, including petrol, diesel, kerosene, and biofuels. Recognising the industry changes ahead, the J0453 is also equipped to deal with future fuels such as hydrogen. EMCO Wheaton is investing.
The J0453 is built using the most durable materials that are proven in the field.
However, EMCO Wheaton recognises that even the best products are prone to wear and tear, especially when handling aggressive fuels and chemicals. That’s why we offer an extensive range of original spares and service kits to keep your equipment working to its full potential.
